Chapter 1

I sat on the chair swing in my backyard staring at the stars. Thinking. I do that a lot. I like to sit and think. I thought of earlier today at school, some weirdo came up to me and told me to 'watch my back'. To make it worse he was sort of cat-like.
          I got up and walked into my house to go to sleep. I thought I heard some rustling in the bush by the forest near my house. I ignored it, it was probably a rabbit or a deer.
          My dream was really strange.I was hiking in the forest by my house. I didn't recognize where I was. I saw something orange with black stripes. I walked over to it to investigate the mass of fur. I was about to touch it when it leapt, too quickly for me to see. I felt a sharp pain in my arm.
          I gasped awake. I could still feel the pain in my arm, like a million needles stabbing me. I looked at it. Nothing. That was good.
          My heart was pounding against my chest. I glanced at the clock. It was 2:34 AM. I went down stairs to get some water. As I filled the cup, I looked out the window. I saw a black and orange tail disappear into the bushes by the window. I stopped the water and ran up both flights of stairs to my room. I was hated the elevator.
         I sat on my bed. I thought of how real my dream was. My arm buzzed from the pain. I felt it, making sure it was okay. It was fine.
         Just then, my cat bounded She jumped on to my dark purple bed. She was dark gray and fluffy. She had yellow eyes. She stared at me intently then sat. Her tail twitched. She started to groom herself. I stroked her.
